I was actually feeling kind of nervous because before the ceremony started there was a mentor and mentee get together time. So each scholar will get one mentor to help/guide us if we have any problem regarding to civil engineering or studies and etc until we have graduated and start working. Personally i feel like this Mentor and Mentee program is so freaking good !

I always wonder how civil engineer works and honestly i really want to get all the experience as much as i can before i started working ! So that things will be easier :) So this Mentor and Mentee program can really help me a lot in gaining knowledge from the expert and apply them in future. But.. unfortunately my mentor couldnt make it on that day. Boo :( So i was asked to join other people's table. I feel so interrupting. But the mentor was nice :)

He told us his life story. It is pretty amazing and it made me realise how we can never predict our future. He told us when he was in form 3 , he did a part time job as a wiring guy to get some money. and then when he was in form 5 , he lost his interest in studies and he went to school only for a few weeks !! He worked most of the days because rm3000+ of salary is a lot when you're 17 so he felt like there is no need to study. But he did sit for SPM and as expected the result didnt come out great. After SPM he was forced by his parents to continue his studies. So he took a diploma. With a minimum knowledge as he rarely go to school he realised he didnt know that much so he studied so hard until he was offered with a scholarship to futher his studies in UK ! In my head i was like WOW. Never underestimate those people who didnt take their studies seriously in school. We never know what's written by God for them.


He also told us, even though he graduated overseas but he started from below. We cannot expect to get a very high salary right after we graduate. And working from below helps to handle a project in the future . You will know how all the people under you work because you've been there before. And honestly i do agree with that. But of course to get to the top is aint easy. He said its our attitude that will determine how far we will go. If you're serious in work, and also committed in doing your work , you will go far. He even said that those good results are just the thing that will confirm you to get a job but after getting the job it is all up to you. How you handle your work and all.
